Campus Life and Inclusion Scholarships

Sean Allen Memorial Award

The Sean M. Allen ’06 Scholarship honors Sean’s memory through the generosity of the Sean M. Allen Courage and Hope Challenge, Inc. This fund was established to award a deserving student entering his/her sophomore, junior or senior year who demonstrates financial need and is challenged with a physical disability that impairs mobility. Graduate students are also eligible. Awardees are eligible for the scholarship on a continuing basis. Recipients are selected by the Office of Financial Aid in conjunction with the Vice President for Inclusion and Community Engagement.  

 

John Wilson Book Scholarship

The John Wilson Book Scholarship is open to full-time Springfield College students who are entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year. Eligible applicants will have contributed to the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion or to a culture of inclusive excellence around issues of diversity and inclusion.

The Edwin C. Johnson Award

The Edwin C. Johnson Award is open to minority students who are full-time Springfield College students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year that plan on dedicating their lives to work alongside youth. 

 

The Marian L. Heard Emergency Support Fund

The Marian L. Heard Emergency Support Fund was established with a generous $25,000 from Liberty Mutual in recognition of Heard’s service on their Board of Directors. The fund supports African-American student(s) who have a demonstrated need for emergency support. Preference will be given to undergraduate students with secondary preference to graduate students. The goal of the Marian L. Heard Emergency Support Fund is to help students remain in school.

 

Oscar Elwell YMCA Book Award

Two $500 book awards will be given each semester to current Springfield College full-time students who are entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of study. The applicant should provide evidence of financial need and meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Student is committed to a career and/or volunteer opportunities in the YMCA,
  • Student has proven involvement in the Office of YMCA Relations and/or YMCA Club, and/or their hometown Y in the areas of youth work, community engagement, and/or camp.
